How does darwinism matter to me?

It matters to me because it helps me (and others) see the connection to all living things. It also matters to me because it can show over time that things are indeed evolving and adapting. It may even be as important as to show how things may continue to evolve as time continues. It helps us to understand why certain traits are dominant or recessive(which can also foretell some things of the next generation).

  1. We have a shade structure in our backyard and there is a constant swarm of flies under it. The other day I was under it as well. A fly landed on my book and I found myself looking to see if it had two sets of wings, and trying to find the bithorax segment. And then I thought about how we emerged from the same life-stuff, and how we are one. When the fifth fly landed on my reading, I thought about how I should get a fly-swatter.
